Welcome to Padfield's history
History is an important element in understanding our ancestors and how they lived. These pages are intended to provide the reader with some background information into Padfield's history. It is a slow and lengthy process that will grow over time.
More historical information will be added to these pages when they have been written. There are a few village-related themes and subjects of historical interest from the Victorian and Edwardian eras that we'd like to populate these pages with: schooling and education, farming the lands, socialising with our neighbours, religious communities and more in-depth articles pertaining to the cotton mills and industrial past. But for now why not have a look at some of the following (all links open in a new page).
