Welcome to the August & September edition of the Padfield News
I hope you all enjoyed the recent good weather, let’s hope there is some more to come.
With holiday season upon us August is a slightly quieter month, but plans are already underway for the Coal Race in September and the Christmas Fair in November, and we are starting to think about what we will be doing in December.
We are currently looking at gardens in the village and will do this a few times over the coming weeks before making a final decision on the best gardens. Results will be announced at the end of August.

Ollie’s Update
Hadfield Post Office
Following a local public consultation and the appointment of a new postmaster, Hadfield Post Office has moved to Nisa (Hadfield Stores), 83-85 Station Road - which is around 100m away from its previous location.
The main, screened, counter will be open Monday to Friday: 9am – 6pm; Saturday: 9am – 2pm. The Post Office service point, selling selected services, will be available much longer hours: Monday to Saturday: 7am – 9pm; Sunday: 7.30am – 8.30pm.
It will continue to operate as one of the Post Office's main style branches offering the same range of products and services as before. Hadfield Post Office is a vital community asset, so I'm pleased that it's being retained in Hadfield with longer opening hours.
High Peak Community Lottery
High Peak Borough Council have launched the High Peak Community Lottery. It's a weekly online lottery that will take place every Saturday night at 8pm. Each ticket costs £1 per week and consists of six numbers. The more numbers you match in a draw the bigger the prize you win.
All funds raised will go to good causes that benefit the local community in the High Peak. Participants choose who their ticket purchase will support. Folk can either support the Lottery Central Fund (funds are distributed to the community by a committee) or you can choose a specific good cause to benefit.
Almost 40 local groups have already registered. It’s open to any eligible not-for-profit group or organisation in the High Peak such as charities, sports clubs, arts groups, schools and PTAs and social enterprises.
For more information on how to enter your organisation or if you would like to get involved then please take a look at the High Peak Community Lottery website: www.highpeakcommunitylottery.co.uk
Free Packed Lunches
Local community group, Hadfield Coming Together, will be providing free packed lunches every Wednesday during the summer holidays to children in Padfield & Hadfield as part of Derbyshire County Council's Holiday Activities and Food Programme.
All children in our local community are welcome and collection is between 12pm to 2pm from Carmel Church, Station Road, Hadfield. For more information or if you have any specific dietary requirements then please contact Gill on 07709515094.
